CALL FOR MARITIME ARTISTS and crew

Essential Opera has some 2026 projects in Fredericton/Ekwpahak and Halifax/Kjipuktuk, including the staged première of “In Her Hands: The Tragedy of Lady Macbeth” by Fiona Ryan. Beyond 2026 we are anticipating events throughout the Maritimes (Mi’kma’ki and Wolastoqiyik territories).

We would love to know who is in the area.

Among other things, we are looking for professional opera artists and vocalists. The score for “In Her Hands” incorporates traditional Western classical notation, graphical elements, and semi-improvised elements. The musical style includes hints of the Medieval and Renaissance eras, Celtic folk, classical, and some character voice work. Experience singing contemporary classical music will be an asset. 

We are also seeking stage management/crew and design/technicians for this chamber opera with supernatural elements.

Suggestions for materials to accompany your introduction:

  • Link(s) to some photos and/or video of your work (production crew)

NB: If you don’t have audio or video material and want to introduce yourself, we would still love to meet you. Please get in touch and let us know about your work. 

TIME FRAME

We plan to review materials as we receive them. As this is a general call, we won’t be able to reply to all emails, but we will keep your materials on file for future projects.

Essential Opera is looking for volunteers in the area of arts admin, producing, and development. Please be in touch if this is you.
